Alta Pest Control, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, operates as a residential pest control services provider with 17 branch locations nationwide. As the company expanded, CFO Tim Bint saw the need for a more scalable and efficient financial management system.
Alta Pest had been managing financials using separate QuickBooks instances for each branch. “About 17 or so were on QuickBooks, and each branch had its own separate instance. Consolidating those into one entity-level set of consolidated financials was a nightmare,” says Tim Bint, the CFO at Alta Pest Control. The decentralized structure resulted in slow, errorprone, and overly manual data consolidation.
Following a 2023 merger with a similar-sized company using a different QuickBooks chart of accounts, getting clean, consistent numbers became even harder. “From time to time we would find that accounts weren’t mapping, and so the consolidated financials didn’t tie to the individual totals of each one. That was problematic,” Bint shares.
Audits and month-end close processes required logging into each branch’s system individually, increasing complexity and inefficiency even more. Their current system also couldn’t keep up with Alta Pest’s growth. They needed a unified, scalable solution to improve accuracy, speed, and strategic visibility. “You get to a point where you outgrow QuickBooks. The functionality is lacking,” Bint explains.
Bint partnered with BT Partners to lead the new accounting system implementation based on a prior successful relationship building a KPI database with Domo. “I had such a good relationship with BT Partners…with their track record and the level of expertise, I thought they’d be a good fit.”
BT Partners was chosen for their hands-on approach, industry-appropriate recommendations, and commitment to a smooth, on-time project. Bint appreciated their responsiveness and focus on long-term partnership rather than a quick handover.
BT Partners led the full implementation of a modern cloud financial system, migrating data from all branch QuickBooks instances into a single unified platform. They handled integrations with third-party systems such as CRM and Bill.com, and configured the system for real-time consolidated reporting.
Key enhancements included a standardized chart of accounts, custom reports, streamlined workflows, and the foundation for Power BI dashboards to connect financial and operational data. “The goal was to be completely migrated from QuickBooks by September 1st, and we were able to do that. It was right on time,” says Bint. “It turned out to be a really good project. Very cost-effective, and we’re very pleased with it.”
Alta Pest cut its month-end close time roughly in half from 20-25 days down to 12-15 days on average. This has freed up significant staff time for strategic analysis instead of manual tasks. Custom reporting now happens automatically, improving accuracy and speed of insights.
The improved visibility enabled major cost savings, including $500,000 per year in vehicle insurance premiums, and allowed the company to optimize staffing by reducing reliance on expensive fractional CFO support. Overall, the project delivered a smoother, more efficient financial operation that directly supports Alta Pest’s continued growth.
Streamlined operations also allowed Alta Pest to reduce staffing costs. The company replaced a $50,000/month fractional CFO with a leaner internal team, supported by BT Partners. Bint appreciated BT Partners’ responsive and collaborative support. “[Other partners] churn through a lot of implementations. They get in and get out quickly and they leave you stranded… BT Partners is a much smaller firm, and they have a smaller client base, so they are more hands-on.”

“We got the service level we were asking for. It was a fair and reasonable price. The project was done on time. All the boxes are checked. When you're looking for someone to help you get a system implemented, those are all the things you want - for it to be as painless as possible, and they got us there.”
